My friend first introduced me to Pandora Hearts with the intention of getting me to cosplay Alice as part of a group. At first I was indifferent about cosplaying from it, but it quickly became one of my favourite things .
It was the first proper anime series I watched and now I love both Alice's character and design.
Construction and Details:
I really enjoyed making Alice's costume, and it was easier than I'd first anticipated, which made things even better!
I did find it frustrating trying to get this costume accurate, as colours and designs seemed to change in every photo I could find! Eventually I went with the red and white colours from the anime and tried to base everything else off one reference picture to keep it accurate to that.
Her coat is made from red gabardine fabric, white polycotton and lined with red polycotton. I mixed the pattern up for the inside of the coat, it should have been all white lining, lucikly, you can't tell when it's being worn so I'm not going to mess it up by trying to change it.
All the diamond details are sewn into place and made from the same polycotton as the bottom of the coat, and the cuffs on the sleeves use card to keep their shape (I intend to change this at some point).
The panel which covers the zip also uses the same method and materials as the coat and other diamonds. This is held in place by buttons which I hand sewed into place.
Her bow was made using white satin fabric, held up by card. It took a few attempts to get the size right but I'm finally pleased with it. The gloves are made from similar fabric.
I bought a pair of white knee-high boots for this costume, which I've modified, using black PVC and modelling clay, to look like Alice's, minus the heel, because my feet don't really agree with those. I used the same modelling clay to make the diamonds on the ends of her plaits.
The skirt and shirt were not made by me. I already had these items at home, so to save money and wardrobe space I just re-use them for this costume.
I also intend to make Alice's scythe, though I'll have to make a scaled down version due to con restrictions and a general lack of space in my house.
