About: When I first played Ocarina of Time I never considered cosplaying Saria. However, after suggestions from others, and time, she grew on me. When I needed a new costume for a meet, I decided I could easily put her costume together in time and so I did. Saria was the last costume I sewed by hand. Construction: Saria's jumpsuit is made from the same polycotton fabric that Toon Link's tunic is made from, though this costume is double layered whereas Link's isn't. I purchased the turtleneck for this costume and hand dyed it to get the right colour. I wanted to keep the knitted effect Saria's design seemed to have, so this is why I didn't make it from scratch. I also decided to make a fairy to accompany Saria. 'Norbert' as it was named is a bauble (very fitting of it's debut season) attached to stong but bendable wire, which meant I could make the fairy move around me. It's wings are printed card images strengthened and shaped by wire. |
